Description

This course provides a practical introduction to static routing on MikroTik RouterOS, combining essential routing concepts with hands-on configuration.

You will begin by understanding static and default routes and how MikroTik routers make forwarding decisions when multiple routes are available. You will explore the importance of more specific routes and learn how the longest-prefix-match rule determines which route is selected.

The course also covers ECMP (Equal-Cost Multi-Path) routing and demonstrates how multiple equal-cost routes can be configured to distribute traffic across different paths. You will learn how route distance influences route selection when several routes exist toward the same destination.

You will then explore the difference between the RIB (Routing Information Base) and FIB (Forwarding Information Base) and understand their roles in the RouterOS routing process.

Finally, you will learn how to implement more advanced routing decisions using routing marks and routing policies, allowing traffic to be forwarded through different paths based on specific requirements.
